This is an interesting follow-up to Uglies, which I remember enjoying despite a bit of an unbelievable premise. This volume brings up some deep questions about identity, as Tally begins the book with lesions on her brain, missing most of her memories about what happened in the previous book. When she finds the truth, she wonders if the surgery has transformed her into a different person. It's an exciting book, a good pick for reluctant readers since something is happening in almost every chapter.
