This is one of my least favorite Jesse Stone films because it portrays the behavior of a raped adolescent girl completely wrong. Jesse finds the body of a girl in a lake and questions her prep school principal who calls her the "school pump" meaning she slept around. Her records indicate she was a model straight A student before attending that prep school but that all changed after a fundraiser for a famous author who is a known pedophile. About the same time Jesse discovers the dead girl is pregnant (with the author's child). A victim of rape, no matter how lonely or misunderstood, would never in a million years go back to her rapist and carry on a relationship long enough to get pregnant. Along with the ridiculously abnormal dialogue, this was one of Robert Parker's worst Jesse Stone novels. Tom Selleck should've passed on this one. The other side story is about a man who's been beating his wife for two decades. She finally leaves him at Jesse's insistance and when the husband tries to get her back, at gunpoint, he shoots Suitcase. I'd recommend you skip this one and watch any of the other Jesse Stone films.
