When a small town hero is accused of an unspeakable crime, and all signs point to his guilt, detective Ralph Anderson and his cohorts in law enforcement think they have a slam dunk case. But Terry Maitland steadfastly proclaims his innocence, and new information emerges that casts the investigation into creepy, inexplicable doubt. Called a "throwback thriller", this is certainly a return to King's roots of eerie supernatural horror, complemented by fleshed out characters you get to know very well. Eventually you have a group of adults trying to wrap their minds around the impossible, the supernatural, the concept of "no end to the universe", and their journey to do that together reminded me a little of IT. This is classic King and I love, love, LOVE it!
