It's rare that I'm torn between giving a movie one star and five stars. If you're looking for a cool kung-fu movie, then you'll be disappointed. And, really, if you're looking for a movie that meets any kind of standards of good filmmaking, you'll be disappointed. If you're looking for a crazy musical/kung-fu hybrid with a black martial artist and a Prince protege, then you have struck gold! "The Last Dragon" is a barely coherent (I love that one reviewer said it had a "great plot"), over the top camp fest that was produced by Motown founder Barry Gordy. The plot? Doesn't matter. Turn off your brain and dive in. Debarge's "Rhythm of the Night" made its debut in the film. A would-be cult classic and part of the wave of 80s martial arts/ninja films ("American Ninja," "Karate Kid," "Revenge of the Ninja").
