I seem to be in the minority on this one, but I was really disappointed by this book. Its narrative structure was choppy and overly complicated, relying almost entirely on flashback. The barrier islands around Antarctica are hardly Antarctica (says this old Antarctica nerd). The portraits of the bickering married couples were straight out of central casting, and the weird later plot point told in flashback didn't make sense to me. Finally, two vegans living for years in Antarctica? As my Antarctic veteran sister (who was a cook for one of the research stations there) replied: "Impossible." Unless, I suppose, you live entirely on a cruise ship, as these two characters do. Sorry--just wasn't for me.
