After a three month leave of absence Dr. Megan Hunt returns to work at the Philadelphia Medical Examiner's office in the third and final season of Body of Proof. The violence and complexity levels of the episodes are stepped up considerably but the storylines are hard to believe at times. There is a terrorist plot, a mob hit, revenge murders, a rabies outbreak and several other unusual cases. There are two new police detectives working with Dr. Hunt's team. One of the detectives, Tommy Sullivan, had a relationship with Dr. Hunt many years before in NYC. Tommy transferred from the NYC Police Department partly in hopes of rekindling a love relationship with Dr. Hunt. In one episode Tommy is framed and becomes the prime suspect in a murder investigation. Throughout the third season Dr. Hunt tries to find out the truth about her father's apparent suicide that happened when Megan was just a child. Dr. Hunt also continues to be hard on her team members and just as aloof and cold as ever.
