I really enjoy Maisie Dobbs and the growth of her character, though some of her personal decisions and her relationships with others (particularly the interactions between Maisie and James) seem stilted and artificial. I really enjoy the characters' continuing struggle to put WWI to rest, and in this book WWII is starting to seem inevitable. I know that these are labeled as mysteries, but I think that my interest in the mystery is secondary to the characters.
