Even though I personally view vocalist Morrissey as being something of a twit when it comes to his role as The Smiths' lyricist (eg. - "If a 10 ton truck crashes into us, to die by your side is such a heavenly way to go.") (Oh, really? Spare Me!), I still highly recommend this "Singles" CD as worthwhile listening for anyone who's even marginally interested in The Smiths and their fame in the realm of pop music during the early-to-late 1980s.
This CD contains 18 tracks in all which covers The Smiths' most productive years from 1983 to 1987. At the height of their success these British rockers wrote some fairly memorable tunes, such as - "The Boy With The Thorn In His Side", "How Soon Is Now?" "I Started Something I Couldn't Finish", and, of course, "There Is A Light That Never Goes Out" (*watch music-video*), to name but a few.
Oh! By the way (for anyone who cares), Morrissey's first 2 names are Steven Patrick.
Repackage, repackage, repackage ... to quote The Smiths themselves, ironically. Can't fault the songs, but how many compilations do we need?
