Add a CommentI'm one of the few that haven't seen the apparently popular movie version, thinking a movie about slow speed submarine chases would be pretty tedious. But I finally decided to give the audio book a try. No surprises here. The whole plot line was, as I had feared, a tad tedious. On the plus side, the audio reader did a good job, speaking the text clearly and faithfully rendering the author's intended tone. And a reader who's interested in military hardware and cold war strategy, they'd probably find the details conveyed interesting. As for me, this book remains about slow speed submarine chases, and is not particularly compelling. I would have liked it better probably had the book undergone some judicious editing, & condensed to about half the length.
The book is beeter then the movie, with parts in it that arent in the movie.
