Probably my favourite by Lapena yet! I never know who the real "bad guy" is until she gives it away. My only pet peeve about Lapena is that she's a Canadian author who never bases her books in Canada.

As always this author's books are always quick and easy reads. I liked the book but it wasn't my favourite read from this author. I've noticed that her writing styles seem to be repetitive and I wish she would shake it up a bit. Spoiler below if you haven't read any of her books but her style is...

(suspect convinces the reader they are innocent for 80% of the book and then we find out otherwise towards the end. Unsuspecting person snaps and commits a new crime out of nowhere.)

“Stephanie has twins and she’s exhausted”. “Stephanie is exhausted because she has twins”. “Colicky, colicky, red eyed, no sleep. Twins. I’m in despair. So tired.” On. Every. Single. Page.

On the edge of my seat - and - surprised! Good read.

Lost of twists & turns. I found the behaviour of the husband & wife frustrating. The ending was a little disappointing. It seemed like a lot of ideas jammed together.

The End of Her by Shari Lapena starts out with Stephanie, a fairly new mother with colicy twins. Her, and her husband Patrick are both sleep deprived because of the colic. Stephanie is a stay at home mom and Patrick's job is suffering due to his lack of sleep. Stephanie is so tired she starts to forget important things, such as locking the door or even closing it on her way out. Then a woman from Patrick's past comes back to reveal some dark secrets that could potentially ruin his relationship, his job, and reputation. This book was one of the better ones I've read, I think it was a little slow in the beginning but the end really pulled it back. I love how the characters really changed their perspective half way through the novel. Felt the “fundamentals” so to say were almost perfect to support the story the author was trying to tell. Revising some of her details, as a person with roughly 2 million dollars in her bank account how come she didn't hire a nanny to help deal with the colic? Either way the end of her was definitely a good read, I will be sure to check out some other Shari Lapena books. 4.5/5 stars. - Veronica, 13, SAPL Read It & Review Contributor

4 star read. This was a good little thriller that had me turning pages wondering what was going to happen next. Stephanie and Patrick have twin girls who have colic and who don't sleep. They are bleary eyed sleep deprived parents. Erica, a woman from Patrick's past turns up and threatens what is left of their happiness. Seems she was the best friend of Patrick's first wife, who died of an accident. But was it an accident? And Erica and Patrick had a fling before his wife died. Erica is also threatening other people and says that she will tell the police that Patrick murdered his wife, unless he pays her to go away. Stephanie starts to wonder what her husband has lied to her about and if he is indeed a murderer. A good thriller and keeps up La Pena's string of thrillers. I enjoy her books.

I enjoyed 3/4 of the novel, but the ending was truly disappointing. It was almost as though the author had rushed the ending without much thought. Also completely unnecessary how many characters there were, and how although they all tied together, they served no purpose to the ending.
