This mind-bending thriller follows two brothers who receive a cryptic video message inspiring them to revisit the UFO death cult they escaped a decade earlier. Hoping to find the closure that they couldn't as young men, they're forced to reconsider the cult's beliefs when confronted with unexplainable phenomena surrounding the camp. As the members prepare for the coming of a mysterious event, the brothers race to unravel the seemingly impossible truth before their lives become permanently entangled with the cult.

Rather boring start of the movie but then it picks up. Once the cat is out of the bag to the mystery then then it sort of loses the intrigue that was built up earlier but it's a fun ride to the end nonetheless. One of the "Black Mirror" types of films.

This was a strange film, but interesting and fairly well laid out, although leaving one wondering what really happened and what was the truth about very strange happenings, looping sequences, in a place of three moons.
Although a low budget film, it was able to create some tense and surprising scenes.
I did not watch the bonus features.

For me, this movie has it all: subversive humor, cult weirdness, and an unseen cosmic evil. Despite being low budget, the film never suffers from stilted acting or dialogue. The filmmakers, as brothers Justin and Aaron, deliver authentic performances that impart both the best and worst parts of sibling love and rivalry.

Although probably not for everyone, viewers who connect with this sort of film will thoroughly enjoy The Endless.

This movie is garbage. the director try acting for a chance and the dialogue and performances are weird and awkward. The plot itself isn't worth the almost 2 hour viewing. Look up the ending on wikipedia and save yourself the time.

I was pretty sure I'd like this low-budget (but by no means cheap looking) indie sci-fi film because it opened with a quote from H.P. Lovecraft. Two brothers, who were part of a UFO cult, return to the fold; one thinks it's a dangerous cult, the other thinks it's a community. Filmmakers Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead play the brothers, and one of the strengths of the film is that it keeps you guessing, which is where the tension comes from. Like Lovecraft, it's got a cosmic horror vibe, but it also is a mindbender like "Primer."

From the makers of one pf my all time favorite horror film's SPRING comes their next big hit with this wise and unsual sci-fi bit about two brothers, Aaron and Justin (also the makers, non-related in real life) who grew up in what they called a "cult." Having escaped over ten years ago and their lives remaining unchanged by it, they decide to return after receiving an odd "message" brother Aaron, the eldest and most reluctant of the two, assuming the cult is out to get payback for comments he made against them in the past. Justin, the younger doesn't remember much from their past, neither with his parents who perished in a car fire and nor with the cult his brother is so adamant about being "culty". Justin has lived in Aaron's shadow for as long as he can remember and what he doesn't know or remember he assumed his brother's word was gospel, until now. Justin convinces Aaron to revisit their past at Camp Arcadia but neither he nor Aaron expected to find what they step into once they have arrived. Although it's not as good as SPRING, it's also quite an original piece and even though it took awhile to get going, I was satisfied in it's unique quality. But I think you may have to be a fan of their work to understand their film making style.

I don't think it fell apart at the end. I was vague most of the movie which made it long and a bit boring but I think it ended well.

Engrossing story line that kind of fell apart at the end, leaving it ultimately incomprehensible. But it was fun to watch until that point.

Low-budget? Yes.
Good thing. Hardly anybody's paid to see this (less than $400,000 in ticket sales. Might break even...). The film-makers put the bucks where they needed them, too: last 15 minutes. Yowzah!

Indie? Yes. Suggest the two guys responsible, Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead, didn't even try to shop the concept/script around. Why would they do that?? They didn't do it on their first two movies. The fun is not only thinking this wild stuff up, but writing it and then...shooting the damn thing! Yes!

Good thing, too, because a mainstream big production company (what would once have been called a "studio", except they don't HAVE actually studios any more) likely woulda messed it up with a lot of predictable cliches and situations. MUCH better this way.

So what we have here--to older folks like me--is a throw-back to the Twilight Zone, One Step Beyond, Outer Limits-type story. Two brothers decide to go BACK to the cult they escaped from. Yikes. But this is 2018, people, and the cinematic story-telling chops these two young film-makers have are better than almost ANYBODY had in the 1950s-1960s movie and TV cine-scape.

All of which means--this is a terrific creepy-crawler of a movie. So, ignore the negative reviews--I mean, sometimes there is NO accounting for good taste--and go borrow it. But be prepared to wait a bit. 38 people lined up. Good choice, guys and gals! Get that popcorn.
