This is a wonderful animated film. The visuals and the imagery are stunningly beautiful. I loved the look and vivid colours in the film. The music in the film is great. I also really liked the storyline about family connections. It was a great adventure story, a celebration of life and death, a tribute to music and a story about the importance of family and also about being true to yourself. This is a great film for all ages. Yet another triumph from Pixar.

A sad story. My 8yrs old son cried in the second part of the movie. A story about death, departure and forgiveness.

Great movie. They really get the cultural aspects right.

Gael Garcia Bernal sounds a whole lot better here than when he sang at the Oscars (was it?) The kid has a great voice, no doubt about it.

Maybe overly-idealized, but it is a cartoon. However, there are lots of really honest, decent people in Mexico. Few of them are rapists, murderers and drug dealers.

Oh, now I'm politicizing an innocent kiddie-flick!! Well, sue me!!

This movie is incredible, one of Disney's best films. I learned that there was extensive cultural assistants in the production of this film to ensure that everything was authentic. As someone with Mexican heritage, I couldn't be happier to see such a family-friendly, pleasant movie that can be re-watched for generations to come.

Coco is an incredibly heartwarming film about the importance of family and following your dreams. The film truly embraces Mexican culture as the plot revolves around the Day of the Dead and its importance to Mexican traditions. The film teaches audiences how and why the day is celebrated, and plenty of cultural aspects of Mexican traditions are incorporated in the film such as alebrijes and sugar skulls. Before seeing this film, I thought Coco was very similar to The Book of Life, another film about Mexican culture and tradition, but after watching it, I realized that the plots for the two movies are quite different and that the story is original. The animation in this film is incredible, too. The Land of the Dead in Coco left me in awe; it was extremely beautiful with bright, bold colours, and Pixar paid great attention to detail and symbolism. The music also adhered to the theme of Mexican tradition in the story; the film included mariachi bands and many parts of the songs sung were performed in Spanish. Additionally, the story and plot itself were well developed, and the ending, in my opinion, was completely unexpected but very clever, well-thought-out, and lovely. 5/5 stars.

Nice family story about a kid and the festival they have for the dead of remembrance. Somehow the kid ends up in their dead grandpa's world and they get to know each other. The boy gets back to his world and his family finally acknowledges his grandpa and their love of him which before they wouldn't do over an old conflict in the entertainment industry.

Many quotes in IMDb already and thanks to those contributors. Here is my favorite and an unexpected jargon from mijo to papi:

Miguel: [to Héctor] A minute ago I thought I was related to a murderer! You're a total upgrade!
[Héctor gives Miguel an annoyed look]

Apr 25, 2018

Héctor: [sings] Remember me, though I have to say goodbye / Remember me, don't let it make you cry / For even if I'm far away, I hold you in my heart / I sing a secret song to you, each night we are apart / Remember me, though I have to travel far / Remember me, each time you hear a sad guitar / Know that I'm with you, the only way that I can be / Until you're in my arms again, remember me...
