"Lucas Davenport confronts an old nemesis, now a powerful U.S. senator, in the thrilling new novel in the #1 New York Times-bestselling Prey series. Lucas Davenport had crossed paths with her before. A rich psychopath, Taryn Grant had run successfully for the U.S. Senate, where Lucas had predicted she'd fit right in. He was also convinced that she'd been responsible for three murders, though he'd never been able to prove it. Once a psychopath had gotten that kind of rush, though, he or she often neededanother fix, so he figured he might be seeing her again. He was right. A federal marshal now, with a very wide scope of investigation, he's heard rumors that Grant has found her seat on the Senate intelligence committee, and the contacts she's made fromit, to be very...useful. Pinning those rumors down was likely to be just as difficult as before, and considerably more dangerous. But they had unfinished business, he and Grant. One way or the other, he was going to see it through to the end"--

Exciting ending with a twist. Lots of bad guys shot in the head. Davenport comes through and figures everything out in the end.

Maybe found another author that appeals to me. This was an easy read where I can just lay back, not think to much and enjoy the read. Apparently there are 28 books of prey written by this author and a new one coming called Neon Prey. I always enjoy knowing there is an author that has many books out which I can read. Even noticed that when I was getting close to the end of the story that my tempo picked up. Not sure if the author did that deliberately or not. Would say he is comparable to Michael Connelly's series of books of Harry Bosch.

'Twisted Prey' is vintage Lucas Davenport: wry, dry and always thinking. It's fun to meet Bob and Rae again and there was a too, too short appearance by Virgil F. Flowers. The plot was everything we all think about Washington D.C.: plots, avarice, selfishness and, above all, ladder climbing over anyone in the way.

5 stars, solid A for a fast yet engrossing read.

Enjoyable. This read more like a Jake Ryan novel. I like the change of scenery to Washington D.C.

A return to form for Sandford. but.....where are the dogs? ( I think I found an implausible plot point)....Sandford makes conspiracy seem like fun (general, overall comment about this author) " ' Taryn Grant,' Lucas said./ Rose nodded, and asked, 'You want a Pepsi or a beer?' After asking the question, he nodded vigorously, a pantomime nod./ Lucas said, ' Yeah, I could use a Pepsi. I haven't had anything to drink since I left the hotel.....'/ ' C'mon, I'll get you one,' Rose said./ In the kitchen, he opened the refrigerator, took out two Pepsis, handed one to Lucas, and said, ' Let's go out and sit by the pool. I got an umbrella out there.'/ Outside, he led the way past the pool to the end of the backyard. ' I'm probably overcooking things a little, but I worry about surveillance. Especially since I know what can be done, if they want to do it,' he said. ' I doubt anyone's actually watching me. . . 'If they are, they wouldn't be bugging us out here.'/ Lucas said, ' Okay. . . '/ "

Fast-paced, action-packed and Virgil Flowers visits for some levity. John Sandford at his best!

As a US Marshall Lucas Davenport's political connections have him assigned to an unorthodox caseload. Rae Givens and Bob Matees are thrilled to join Lucas to prove the fatal car accident involving Senator Porter Smalls was attempted murder by Smalls rival Taryn Grant.

Black ops, military contracts, FBI and CIA & State Police all cross the Marshalls' paths as the target shifts to Lucas. Nice to see Taryn finally get what she deserves from book 20!

As anticipated.Always enjoy the throw-away comments. They'd all translate to a TV series. NCIS genre.

Surprised book received such high marks. I like to read plots that I can unravel with the writer. Was bored since I already knew who, when, where, alas, I will not pick up another by this author.

Not sure why so popular. I like to figure out who done its, myself as I read. Last time I pick up another one from this author.

I like all of John Sandford's books. TWISTED PREY is his latest in the "Prey" series starring Lucas Davenport, and one of his best among so many great ones. Davenport, now a US Marshall (in case you have gotten lost among his many job shifts), finds himself embroiled in the rivalry between both US Senators from Minnesota with far reaching implications. Most of this story takes place centered in the Washington DC area, except for a brief interlude when the bad guys make a run at Davenport's wife, Weather. The plot line is awesome and well developed. The bad guys are easily identified from the beginning, which is skillfully done and doesn't distract from the story line at all. The book is a great crime read, but also surfaces the underlying national issue of power grabbing in DC, and a corresponding lack of ethical standards among those in office who seek even great power and wealth at the expense of solving the real problems our country faces. Great read. Enjoy it!
