From New York Times and USA TODAY bestselling author Christine Feehan, discover her passionate and paranormal novel of love and mystery at Christmastime.

Kate Drake, a well-traveled bestselling novelist, is one of seven sisters--seven very special sisters who happen to be witches. When she returns to her small coastal hometown before Christmas to attend her sister's wedding, she decides to settle there. Discovering a charming but run-down and spooky historic house, she decides to open a bookstore and sets about clearing it out when an earthquake occurs, knocking down part of the wall and revealing a burial crypt. Intrigued but cautious, she turns to the handsome carpenter she hired to help renovate the house. But Kate begins to sense that neither the carpenter nor the law nor any otherworldly power can help her reign in the evil that was released from the crypt. She will have to summon all of her supernatural power--and that of her six sisters--to destroy the sinister force that is casting a dark shadow over her hometown.

The Twilight Before Christmas is a darkly charming romance, reminiscent of the holiday works of Jude Deveraux and Linda Howard.

I haven't read the first book in this series and only picked up the second because it was Christmas related and I am on a bit of a Christmas book kick at the moment. I also don't tend to pick up a lot of romances. As far as this romance goes it is pretty steamy--what you would expect from Christine Feehan. Still there was enough story that it wasn't necessarily overshadowed by the physical romance. This is definitely a lighter read without a lot of world building or character development. I did get the feeling that I would have gotten more of that if I had read book one first rather than jumping into the middle of the series. While it was somewhat predictable at times it was still a fun Christmas romance.

I put The Twilight Before Christmas on my "Christmas in July" list, so I decided to read it. This is the 2nd book in the Drake Sisters series...just after Magic in the Wind-- which CML doesn't have in hardcopy-- and before Oceans of Fire--also not in hardcopy in CML. The Twilight Before Christmas is a, but I found I greatly enjoyed it. The Twilight Before Christmas will be re-released this November, date slated 11/22/16.

Bestselling novelist Kate Drake is one of seven sisters gifted with amazing powers of witchcraft. Returning home in time for her northern California town''s annual Christmas pageant, Kate catches the spirit of the season and decides to open a bookstore in a charming but run-down historic mill. Decorated former U.S. Army Ranger Matt Granite, now a local contractor, doesn''t mind working in the undeniably eerie house -- not if it means getting closer to Kate. There''s something about the quiet, sensual woman that powerfully attracts him.
When an earthquake cracks the mill''s foundation and reveals a burial crypt, Kate senses that a centuries-old evil has been unleashedŠand that it''s coming after her. Though Matt vows to guard her from dusk till dawn, Kate knows she will have to summon all of her and her sisters'' powers to battle the darkness threatening to destroy both Christmas and the gift of soul-searing passion her hometown hero wants her to keep forever....

This is actually part of the Drake Sister series. It's the romance between the second drake and a construction contractor. She can sense emotions and he runs into things(cars, trees, houses) when he's around her. A Christmas curse brings them together, and nearly tears them apart.

A black scowl settled over Old Man Mar's face. His craggy brows drew together in a straight, thick line. He made a single sound of disgust and spat on the ground. The old man delivered his yearly kick right to Danny's shin and shuffled off, muttering something about tomatoes. Danny howled and jumped around, holding his injured shin. The staff swung around in a wide circle so that the participants had to break ranks and run for safety. Matt kept walking straight past Inez and the outraged look on her face. Kate met him at the stable, lifting her face for his kiss, while Inez followed Danny, giving him her annual Christmas lecture on behavior. "All in all, Katie, I'd say this was a very satisfactory pageant."---Matt Granite
