A good character study examining an ordinary man who wins a trip on a private space flight, and when things go terribly wrong and he finds himself waiting to die, he starts writing an extended letter to whoever in the future finds the shuttle. Little does he know that his profound insights and questions are touching the lives of countless others reading his words on Earth. An uplifting and optimistic novel. I find myself wondering why Nance hasn't written anything since this.

This is the second book I have read by John Nance and both are great reads! The first book, fireflight, is about aircraft fighting fires and what happens when things go very wrong. This book deals with civilian space flight and what happens when things go very wrong. I see a theme but both book are worth the read.
