Beneath the unbearable light of the Kefahuchi Tract - a huge, fulminating ocean of radiant energy deep in the galaxy - three objects lie on the barren surface of an asteroid: an abandoned spacecraft, a pair of what look like bone dice, and a human skeleton. What are they, and what do they mean?

An absolutely bizarre and amazing book. I adore books that deal with some of the stranger aspects of science but don't dumb it down with explanations or exposition, they simply assume that if you're reading science-fiction you should know what these terms and ideas mean or reference.

However, if you are looking for a book with heroes, villains or even just undamaged characters - this one is definitely not for you. I don't think there's a single character - main, secondary or tertiary that is not thoroughly messed up.

For some reason some of the reviewers on goodreads label the book as cyberpunk. It is not, oh god, it is so not cyberpunk.

This is the sort of book that expects you to keep up, assuming that you will eventually understand it. I found it inexplicable and rather confusing, but enjoyable nonetheless. If you're looking for a weird and challenging novel that's like nothing you've ever read before, you might like this one.
