The title of this book refers to Angela Hawthorne’s life-long goal of getting into Harvard, but also all of the secrets that the Hawthorne family don’t want to admit to each other. The novel has a few unnecessary deceptive moments, and the epilogue was far too sappy. Overall though, the Hawthornes are an interesting family with their hectic, competitive, privileged lifestyle, and an inability to be honest with each other.

Good book about a family trying to juggle their current lives and past secrets. What appealed to me the most was Nora's character. She was sucked into the whole California lifestyle and judged her family by those measures of success. However, she had a clear sense of the ridiculous and had some funny observations. Anyone who has recently guided a child through the college admissions process would recognize the dramas. Enjoyable.
