Oldest daughter Laurel was witness to her mother’s killing of man on her brother’s second birthday, a death judged self-defense. Now, as her mother’s life is coming to an end long-held secrets begin to unfold.

Morton’s page-turning novel set in WW II London and recent time has a remarkable cast of characters and quite a story. Loved it.

What a great book. I loved it from beginning to end and there were so many twists and turns throughout. The story takes place during WWII, 1953 and 2011. It's a story of a mother's life and the many secrets she kept and the daughter who was trying to unravel them. This was a fabulous read.

This book is so good that you'll forget about doing all your laundry. Seriously. It happened to me.

This is the best book that I have read for a long time. About four adult children watching their mother die of old age The mother had many secrets from her past that they are trying to uncover before she passes away. Starts off in Australia in the 1920's with a tragedy and a young orphan girl who is sent to live in England with an uncle. The story flits back and forth between 1943 ,1960 and 2011. A surprising twist at the end. Couldn't put this book down for long.

Absolutely loved this book! The WWII London setting juxtaposed with 1960's and current day events create an intertwined plot with many twists and turns. My friends and I were kept guessing up to the last pages. 5 stars!

This book drew me in from the beginning. I had read "Forgotten Garden" from same author and couldn't wait to read another of her books. This one didn't disappoint. WWII era, interesting characters and plot twists. I listened to CD version and enjoyed the reader's voice as well. Definitely recommended!

Take a journey from the 1960's, to present day, to the 1940s, back to present day. Get to know Lauren, Dolly, Dorothy, and Vivien on this intriguing mystery. What is Dorothy hiding, and why did she kill a man she seemed to know right in her backyard? You will have to read The Secret Keeper to find out. I highly recommend it!

Excellent... 90 year old dying & her daughter tries to understand why mother killed someone years ago. WWII setting & the present; complicated intertwining of 3 young people with surprise twist at the end.

At first, I found reading this book quite confusing because the author not only uses flashbacks but includes passages which describe a character's imagination about an up-coming event. What the character imagines is never what truly happens! This means that reading diagonally is not recommended lest one gets totally confused. Nonetheless, the story did keep my interest and the ending would have been difficult to imagine. A good read.
