In the third season of the HBO hit drama series Game of Thrones, the Lannisters barely hold on to the throne after a savage naval onslaught from Stannis Baratheon, while stirrings in the north threaten to alter the overall balance of power. Robb Stark, King in the North, faces major calamity in his efforts to build on his victories over the Lannisters while beyond the Wall, Mance Rayder and his huge army of wildlings continue their inexorable march south. Across the Narrow Sea, Daenerys Targaryen- reunited with her three fast-maturing dragons- attempts to raise an army to sail with her from Essos, in hopes of eventually claiming the Iron Throne. In Season 3 of this original series based on George R. R. Martin's bestselling books, the battling families of Westeros continue to clash as bonds are strained, loyalties are tested, and cruel fates are met.

This is where the show really hit its stride. There's much more plot development than in Season 2 and although this season still featured nudity, it felt far less gratuitous and risible than in the past. HBO seems to have finally got the memo that a show so thoroughly compelling doesn't need to sacrifice its credibility for the sake of titilization. Of course, it can't be ignored that this season featured the show's most powerful and talked about episode which overshadowed the fact that the season finale was by far the most satisfying of any of the season's so far. And the best thing about season 3 is that the increase in quality seen in its best episodes carried-over to the entirety of season 4 which in overall quality surpassed the very high mark set by this season.

Wow, this just keeps getting better and better. The one thing you do learn about this series is NOT TO GET TOO ATTACHED TO ANY CHARACTER. Can't wait to watch season four.

I believe Daenerys Targaryen is presidential material. She's my favorite character.Don't get me wrong, All the actors and actresses are all very good. Especially the evil teen king Joffery. What a creep.I liked when the dwarf and his father put Joffery in his place at the conference table.I wasn't expecting the wedding slaughter at such a joyous event. Many twists and turns to keep you wanting more.

A fantastic production. Terrific drama/writing, characters/cast, visuals. Everything. Episode nine COMPLETELY blew me away with some developments I *never* expected. It's tough waiting for the next season. FIVE STARS.

The Freys really know how to throw a wedding party. I must really NEVER attend one. Maybe a Lannister wedding would be safer. Then on second thought, maybe NOT.

More bloodshed, political intrigue and battles among gritty depictions of the human struggle for power. The plot, based on "A Storm of Swords: A Song of Ice and Fire" thickens and getting closer to somewhere as the much tested dragon mom, Daenerys Targaryen, is poised to regain prominence in the realm -- UNLESS ...

The struggle for power continues in the third season of Game of Thrones. Much of the action takes place in King's Landing featuring plenty of plots, lies and betrayals. Jaime Lannister and Arya Stark are both en route to reunite with their families and Bran Stark and his group are heading north to The Wall in hopes of reuniting with Jon Snow. Daenerys Targaryen and her three dragons mount two successful sieges adding thousands of soldiers to her army. In the north Jon Snow reluctantly joins forces with the Wildlings. There are several major developments and surprises in the north including the dire news that the White Walkers are heading south.

(One of the first things Daenerys had done after the fall of Astapor was abolished the custom of giving the Unsullied new slave names ... they were free free to return to their birth names or called themselves after heroes or ... Grey Worm, the leader overwhelmingly chosen by the Unsullied themselves, had remained Grey Worm.) When she, Daenerys, asked him why, "It is a lucky name. The name this one was born to was accursed. That was the name he had when he was taken for a slave. But Grey Worm is the name this one drew the day Daenerys Stormborn set him free.

Tywin: And you want your own reward, is that it? Very well. What is it you w0uld have of me? Lands, castle, some office?" ---- Tyrion: A little bloody gratitude would make a nice start. --- Tywin: Mummers and monkeys require applause. So did Aerys, for that matter.
