Dennett writes eloquently about philosophical dilemmas and explores the ways he thinks about them. His "intuition pumps" are insightful metaphors for the thinking and tinkering processes used by philosophers.

While somewhat rambling, the book holds interest through its witty and novel approaches to looking at philosophical problems. Unfortunately, the nicknames he gives his techniques make them difficult to understand and remember. Still, there is much here to ponder on, even without working through the minutiae of his reasoning.

A bit snarky at times.
