Directed by John McTiernan in 1987, this Amercian SF horror drama depicts the mission to save hostages in guerrilla-held territory in Central America and the encounter with a technologically advanced space alien monster.
Although action-packed, fast-paced and excitingly filmed, the special effects appear primitive and the plot seems thin and flat.

One of two, perhaps three, movies with two governors in it. Someone said there were no females in this movie; that isn't true. It seems that this was a unique movie; covering territory that was different and entertaining.

It is something of an action/war movie with the twist that perhaps humans are the hunted, rather than the other way round.

This film is okay but not exceptional. Worth watching once but will never replace the original but i rate it better than the alien vs. predator films.

This dumb SyFy clunker features one of the most laughable-looking "aliens" I have ever seen in a big-budget, Hollywood movie. After this idiotic creature was revealed in full view, I couldn't take this film's story seriously 'cause this E.T. looked so goofy that I couldn't stop laughing at it.

Also - There are no women in this movie. And every guy in the story is trying his damnedest to outdo his fellow macho men by being the toughest badass of them all. Ha! What a joke it all was, especially with the one-dimensional Arnold Schwarzenegger playing out the same, old, stale character that he always plays in every single movie he is in - Himself.

1987's "Predator" is one of those ruthlessly sadistic movies that (as a cheap ploy to build suspense) doesn't clearly show this creature-in-question (in the plain light of day) until well into the story.

And, I have to tell ya - When this particular "predator" does finally step out of its visual obscurity (with its wormy hair and its "Porky Pig" roadkill face) - I, literally, burst out laughing. I really did. (Ha! What a hoot!) Talk about anti-climatic!

This utterly moronic-looking predator (with fingernails so long that it couldn't even manipulate its own high-tech gadgetry properly) was one of the most laughably cheesy creatures ever designed by famed make-up effects artist, Stan Winston.

And, speaking about Predator's soundtrack music - Man-oh-man - It was so irritatingly loud far too often and it kept inexplicably building in intensity as a sorry attempt to hopefully create some much-needed suspense in this SyFy clunker.

Oh, yeah - By the way - "Predator" stars the Austrian Oak (aka. Arnold "What's-His-Name").

This is a quite good Schwarzy movie. The Fuzzy-Whizzy commentator here is mistaken if he thinks the Predator in the movie is a freaky, unrealistic creature of someone's imagination. Because I heard Dr. Bill Deagle of Vancouver say on talk radio in 2007 in his"Nutri-Medical Report And Clay And Iron Show" that the creation of this kind of soldiers is planned in fact. Dr. Deagle PhD said that 120,000 "super-soldiers" have been ordered to be genetically (and electronically enhanced) made. He said those hybrid soldiers will have very quick reflexes, be able to run 50 miles an hour, and jump 8 meters with a 120kg backpack. He said those soldiers are being made by mixing human genes with baboons, etc. and he said they are being developed in a place which is not America, and not Europe. He said there are experiments going on with these humanoid-animal mixes and they discard the scraps. So, the Predator of this movie, bizarre as it looks, is a reality of the future.

Old but what an excellent movie. I saw it when it first came out but that did not deter us from watching it again.

Predator just celebrated its 30th birthday on June 12th, so it’s a perfect time to revisit this over the top, bro-grabbing, oiled biceps, grease painted camouflage, quote fest of a movie to see if it holds up to the cruel ravages of time. Turns out it's just as good as ever, maybe even better. Sure, the plot is thin but if that’s what you’re watching for, you might need to reevaluate some of your entertainment decision making. This is a classic line’em up and knock’em down, hunter v. hunted tale, rife with guns, lasers, alien technology, boy scout booby-traps, and of course, some of the best macho repartee committed to film.

Arnold turns in easily his best performance on the silver screen and he’s supported by a cast that’s fully committed to the vision of the action mastermind, John McTiernan. There’s no doubt I’ll watch this a few more times at least before the next installment of the franchise, The Predator, directed by Shane Black (who appears in Predator as the misfiring comedic relief, Hawkins) hits theaters in August 2018.

I'm trying to find out if this is full or widescreen. Anybody know?

You know I think I saw this creature once, and sasquatch too, a whole family of them, this is no bull. But a truly classic movie that is Predator. You know bigfoot and aliens are for real, even if you have never seen them. People say God is real, how do you know? Have you seen Him? Faith is the believe in things not seen. But an alien like in this movie, why not just blow up the whole planet, why risk your life at all... I mean a spaceship that can actually travel through space would have super amazing powers you couldn't even dream about. Like us humans to get to the nearest star would take 18 thousand years with our technology we have today. Round trip 36,000 years, I don't think so. I would die of old age I think by then. So the movie is purely not real science at all.
