Veteran reporter Jack McEvoy has taken down killers before, but when a woman he had a one-night stand with is murdered in a particularly brutal way, McEvoy realizes he might be facing a criminal mind unlike any he's ever encountered. Jack investigates--against the warnings of the police and his own editor--and makes a shocking discovery that connects the crime to other mysterious deaths across the country. Undetected by law enforcement, a vicious killer has been hunting women, using genetic data to select and stalk his targets. Uncovering the murkiest corners of the dark web, Jack races to find and protect the last source who can lead him to his quarry. But the killer has already chosen his next target, and he's ready to strike.

I've really enjoyed Michael Connelly's other books. Tried to give this one a chance, but after somehow getting through a third of the book, I couldn't force myself to read any further - this one was returned without finishing.

This book is amazing. I don't know how Michael Connelly just gets better and better. Fair Warning caused me to re-read the other books in the McEvoy trilogy. If you haven't read the others, run, don't walk, to your local library, book store or Amazon.

Columbus Metro Library is awesome! Regarding those who have expressed concerns about the holds, it works as it always has if you have an account. I placed a hold for a popular author over a month ago and each time I check the waiting time is reduced. Be patient folks...

How I love Mr. Connelly's books and Fair Warning was no exception! I was totally enthralled by the DNA portions of the book, although the small amount of real-life oversight and enforcement by the FDA is rather scary. This book is definitely a cautionary story about the dangers of both the dark web, and about releasing private information pertaining to one’s DNA into the hands of a commercial enterprise that may be controlled by persons with unethical, immoral interests. It's certainly made me think twice about the latter. Interesting, too, is that FairWarning and Myron Levin actually exist. Fair Warning is another gripping, compulsively readable book by Mr. Connelly and I cannot wait to read whatever he writes next!

I think your new system for reserving books, etc. is not easy to
understand or navigate. Would appreciate having this cleared
up as I'm not sure if I have books on hold, for later shelf or are
ready for pickup! Thanks.

The third book in the Jack McVoy has him investigating from the first page when detectives informed him that he’s a person of interest in a murder. Eventually McVoy finds his investigation leading him to DNA research and the dark web. Lots of creepy stuff and readers will be satisfied with the end.

It says there are 217 holds for this book. How can that be when no holds have been allowed and it's not even listed except for digital? Would really like an answer, please.

Now that the library will be reopening, there are several books, including this one, that I would like to put a hold on.

How can all copies be in use if the library has been closed for months and no holds are allowed?
