I really thought the premise of this book sounded excellent, it wasn't until I started reading it that I realized it was a YA novel and it held a little less meaning for myself. That said I did enjoy it, particularly some of the…

"13 Little Blue Envelopes by Maureen Johnson, released in 2005, is truly a one-of-a-kind read. This realistic fiction young adult novel tells the story of a young woman who embarks on an unexpected and momentous journey through Europe.…

I thought this book was pretty good. It makes you feel like you're traveling to Europe, and I think it does a good job of creating a realistic travel outline. However, I didn't really feel like I connected to the protagonist, who didn't…

13 Little Blue Envelopes is a novel about Ginny Blackstone, a teenager who goes on an adventure planned by her late aunt Peg. Aunt Peg was an eccentric artist whose life was always a mystery to everyone, including her family. The book…

This is one of those stories that let you live your dreams of travelling Europe vicariously through the main character. However, it also allows you to unravel the mystery behind her eccentric aunt, and on a journey to find meaning of it…

Novel not quite what I expected. Sure it had romance, adventure & mystery in form of what treasures & secrets her eccentric aunt left. Author gave her own fresh spin on tired teenage trip to Europe trope. Yes, the ending was somewhat…

I purchased 13 Little Blue Envelopes years ago, because I loved Maureen Johnson's The Name of the Star (which I need to re-read, and then finish the series). She has this uniquely realistic but charming way of writing about being an…

This book was part teen adventure, girl meets boy, part dealing with the loss of a loved one, and the balance didn't work for me. Lessons about the complexity of people and the unpredictability of life came through clearly, though.

A very nice coming-of-age book that is anything but typical. After all, who gets to jet set across Europe when they're a teenager? This book was a quick read, but it's one I'd love to read again.

The concept of this novel was more intriguing than the novel itself. It is about this girl named Ginny and her deceased aunt sends her a blue envelope in a package. Ginny must go on a tour around the world picking up the rest of the 13…

One large, obtrusive aspect of this novel is the third-person point-of-view. Third-person limited means the reader is a step removed from the main character's perspective, and in 13 Little Blue Envelopes we feel the entirety of that step.…

This book takes you on an adventure, starting on the first page. At times it was slow, but still a great summer read.

really great! Makes me wish that I had an aunt or anyone really who would do this for me, also the odds that if this happened my parents would let me go are not too positive. can't wait to read the second book.

This was a refreshing read, and I'd say appropriate for all ages. It doesn't baby the audience, and offers plenty of fun scenic and other travel descriptions during our heroine's trek across Europe. The story itself, independent of all the…
