A fine mix of dime-store politics with Hollywood noise induced schlock. The last quarter could have been totally blacked out, for all the difference it would make.

Not the type of movie I like.

Considering what just happened, how are there not hundreds of holds on this? I took it out the day after the blast as a way to reflect on the current state of suffering.

Style and atmosphere were exquisite. Old enough to remember what a s*** show Lebanon was in the 80's. Loved it! Could anyone understand what was going on? Not the best minds.

With very good dialogue by veteran writer Tony Gilroy (the Bourne trilogy, Michael Clayton, State of Play) and creditable acting all around, this is an enjoyable evening's entertainment -- far superior to your standard issue Middle East…

Directed by Brad Anderson in 2018, this American thriller depicts the rescue mission of an ex-diplomat during the Lebanese Civil War. The protagonist faces a formidable question: who do you trust in a world where the truth emerges only…

moves along sloww. And quite fictional. Simplistic view on the Lebanese Civil War and it's players. Very sanitized for American viewing, I suppose.

Within the context of the fictional plot, an enjoyable film unfolds. However one must be cautioned at its depiction of the political conflicts, which is simplistic and told from an American perspective, while failing to examine deeply the…

I enjoyed this movie. It is not a cinematic Oscar achievement, but an intriguing enough story to pull you into the complex warring factions of Beirut. It definitely entertained me and kept me interested for the duration. I enjoyed it.

Terrible movie. How it is possible for this to make it to the big screen would have been a far more interesting movie. Total trash, and I like John Hamm as a actor, too bad..

Well acted story. Odd to see a city which was so beautiful. Then to see the ravages of what war brings. Film is based on true events; evidently odds and ends of different incidences. Good script, well presented by the director and actors.…

Another dark movie that I fell asleep watching. Girl friend stayed with it trying to get into the movie and just could not. When I woke up watched another 15 minuets and we finally took out the CD and watched a recorded hour of "The Good…

Contrived and convoluted, it plays out like an academic essay on the politics of Beruit prior to the Israeli invasion rather than an engaging dramatic exercise. You won’t exactly be sorry you saw it, but you won’t be terribly thrilled…

Fairly good story. Drags a little in parts. Good acting all round. Replace The Art Of The Deal with this film if you feel you need a lesson in negotiations.

Fairly good political triller with a solid acting.

Answering to Miller1114's comment, the guy was not picked as the negotiator because "he is the only one that resolve vague issue" but his trusted relationship with 'xxyyzz;' and to LauraSteinert, the film depicted events in 1972 (soon…

This movie follows every Hollywood movie cliché. Important man affected by a death by someone close to him? Check! Man becomes alcoholic? Check! Man isolates himself and loses contact with those previously close to him? Check! His former…

Excellent movie - well played. The ex-pat community of the Paris of the Middle East was especially elegant. When it all went to hell there were 27 warring entities - not much survived.

Beirut used to be the 'Paris' of the Middle East, (think 'a celeb hang-out'). Docu-dram of real event, and it was very enjoyable. Did not have the fictional excitement of the Bourne-series with super-stunts and vehicle chases. That…

Well directed movie with good acting. I wasn't sure if I'll see Don Draper in Beirut of another character; Jon Hamm did an excellent job shedding his Don Draper persona. Good movie with right pacing and everything. Action scenes are…

a little confusing at times, had to turn up the volume to hear properly, but still good movie.

Not at all what I expected. Young people might be surprised at the excesses of the 70s, but the expat community was a place to party. The time switches were occasionally hard to follow. (Why would a man in the 2000s have 1970s sideburns?…
